| bay area famous star no cheese $2.69 LA famous star no cheese $1.25 and the LA famous star tastes twice as good (irregardless of price)
the allure of the possibility of going to french laundry and cherry/peach picking will draw me back to bay though I'm sure.
are the diners on Hell's Kitchen just normal people or are they all actors?
work hard and take plenty of time for relaxation, -khar

| Came back to the bay area last week to take care of some stuff at home and have some minor surgeries. I can't believe how hot it's been here. I'm really desiring LA weather cuz it's too hot here? That's just weird. Supposed to stay another week or so and have my stitches taken out, but can't I just take them out myself in LA? It'll be way cooler (the weather, not the self-taking-out of stitches). Will stay through Father's Day probably.
Few days ago went with mom to get a Roomba, since my mom and I are both super allergic to dog hairs, and there's a big golden retriever (Becky) in the family. I must say I am very impressed with it -- its maneuverability, cleaning power, work ethic, and communication skills. It definitely exceeded my expectations.
Contemplating a possible job change, and it's especially big since I've been working from home. No field change, but opportunities are in the bay area or taiwan (!!) so it'd be a rather big change. We'll see... who knows...
I want to go pick cherries and peaches. I want to go to French Laundry.
Be Happy, -khar
ps I want shiao long bao in Taipei.

| when in taiwan, do as the taiwanese do. in less than a week some highlights i've had ie eaten: xiao long bao (xlb) at little shanghai (!!!), wonton in hot oil noodles, red bean milk candy, taro donuts, bean flower soup (a literal translation), dan a mi gu (a taiwanese phonetic translation for some sticky rice dish), i-mei's pork short ribs in a box, pineapple running chicken soup. (forgive any weird translations.) i've also cooked a few meals, but no highlights there.
found a blog entry about my favorite xlb place in the world: http://hungryintaipei.blogspot.com/2006/12/chinese-i-strongly-recommend-little.html
happy eatings n EXERCISING, -kharles

| from the sensations of a sneeze i can tell if i'm suffering from allergies or if i'm sick (and if i'm sick whether i'm in the getting worse phase or the almost well phase). if i sneeze so hard that it hurts or if the sneeze doesn't make me feel any better, i'm allergic. if i feel better after the sneeze but still not well, i'm in the getting worse phase of a cold. if i feel like that was one of the most relief-bringing sneezes i've ever had, i'm almost well from a cold. if i've never felt better after a sneeze as if all worries and pain have been lifted from my shoulders after the sneeze, well i'm... trying to end my blog with something pattern-ful yet clever and failing.
may all your sneezes bring you sunshine relief, -khar

| on my bed there are 4 pillows. (2 are the same normal goose downs in white pillow covers, 1 is a goose down in a sham pillow cover, and 1 is a tempurpedic type. also, there used to be 5 but i'm not sure where my other sham pillow went.) i guess my head's fondness for a variety of pillows to sleep on is an indication of my own fondness for life variety, although this life variety fondness requires some clarification. perhaps some other day in some other blogful ramblings. now about this pillow throwing...
for the past few months since being in LA (excluding december), i have found in many mornings that 1 or 2 pillows will be elsewhere in the room (aka not on my bed). plus those pillows will not just be beside the bed (as in they fell off the edge while i was sleeping or something); they will be clear across the room. that brought me to conclude that often in those months, i was often engrossed in dreams that required me to throw objects across huge distances. was i a medieval catapult sieging a castle? was i the viking dude on that snickers commercial? was i a fish thrower dude in one of those fish markets in seattle that i saw on food channel? was i a ninja sporting very very large ninja stars? i'm not sure since i don't remember any of those dreams...
i'm perhaps happy, sad, and disappointed that i have found no pillows thrown in the month of december. those concurrent feelings are necessary since i have no idea what kind of sad, happy, or adrenaline-pumping dreams i had been having. (you see what i did there with those lists of flipped adjectives?)
i got a safety deposit box this past week. gonna put all these important things in there. just call me jason bourne. also this past week made some dumplings with my brother and had hot pot at home.
one personal victory to report. so there's this one particulr jacque dans la boƮte restaurant near where i live that has irked me to no end with its pricing. it charges for 1 egg roll $1.09 and charges for 3 egg rolls $4.09. ah yes, make the larger order attractive to your customers by charging MORE! hmm. all the times i go to jitb (abbreviation en anglais this time) i almost always get egg rolls, so at this one restaurant, i'll have to order 2 individual 1 orders or sometimes 3 individual 1 egg rolls just to make a point. all these months they didn't notice. i even submitted an online suggestion reporting this price irregularity to the particular restaurant on the jitb website (taking the time to do a national search and highlight the exact restaurant). so on the way back today from watching the survivor finale at my friends' place, i had a hankering for egg rolls and went to this jitb drive thru, and paid $3.09 (plus tax) for 3 egg rolls!!! they had finally fixed it! yea i know you had already guessed the ending, but that does little to dampen my celebrations.
it's the holiday season! headed back north in a week or so for a week or so. the holidays are wonderful -- too bad it's just always so cold. one of these days... christmas in some-beach-with-sunny-weather-where-you-rejoice-at-cool-breezes.
khb, -khar
